PSV Eindhoven defender Hector Moreno has apologised for breaking Luke Shaw‘s leg during his side’s 2-1 Champions League win over Manchester United on Tuesday night.
The Mexican’s tough challenge resulted in the youngster suffering a double leg fracture, with the England international given oxygen whilst being stretchered from the pitch at the Phillips Stadium.
Moreno took to Twitter to send his apologies to Luke Shaw in the immediate aftermath of the match.
He tweeted: “First of all I wanna send my strength to @LukeShaw23 I’ve been through this before and I know how it feels. So I hope a fast recovery for you and see u again on the field. All the best.”

Moreno suffered a horrific injury of his own last year after breaking his leg whilst playing for Mexico against Netherlands at the 2014 World Cup.
Shaw will undergo surgery in Manchester and is expected to miss the remainder of the season.
