A French media outlet had indicated that Liverpool would break the bank for Lyon star Alexandre Lacazette, but Lyon owner Jean Michel Aulas shot down these rumors.
Aulas was brutally honest in his debunking as he called this information “trash” on his Twitter account.
A team would have to break the bank to sign Lacazette. According to Aulas, it would cost more than £50m to sign the French international.
It is hard to argue with that, as Lacazette scored 27 goals for Lyon in French Ligue 1 matches this season, which led the entire league.
Lacazette is expected to leave, even with a contract extension that he has signed with Lyon through 2018.
Although Liverpool may not be able to land Lacazette, they are still expected to heavily pursue Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke.
