Spurs may now miss out on Brazil star.
New Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti looks set to scupper Tottenham Hotspur’s planned swoop for coveted Corinthians midfield player Paulinho, according to reports in The Times.
The north London club have been monitoring the Brazil international for some time now, and submitted a bit of £17 million for his services earlier this week.
However, the appointment of Ancelotti as the successor to Jose Mourinho in the Santiago Bernabeu hot seat on Tuesday has now thrown a spanner in the works as far as Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas is concerned, with the Italian having reportedly sanctioned a £20m move for the holding midfield player.
The 24-year-old, who has already won 15 caps with Brazil since making his international debut two years ago, has a contract with Corinthians that runs until June 2015 and is now expected to make a choice between the two European heavyweights as to where his next destination will be.
