Manchester City battled back from a goal down to Liverpool to reassert their Premier League title credentials.
Manuel Pellegrini’s side have been in formidable form this term – particularly at the Etihad Stadium, putting six goals past both Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal – and while Liverpool gave them a good game, they created the better chances throughout.

The Reds began impressively, and after Raheem Sterling was wrongly called offside when sprinting through on goal, they took a deserved lead.
Philippe Coutinho shot home from a wide angle after good work from Sterling and Luis Suarez, but Brendan Rodgers’ side were unable to contain the best side in the division for long.
Liverpool’s vulnerability at set pieces once again came back to haunt them, with Vincent Kompany heading in from a corner, and a horrendous piece of goalkeeping from Simon Mignolet put them behind.
The Belgian somehow fumbled Alvaro Negredo’s weak shot into his own net even though it was struck directly at him, and it proved crucial as the Spaniard’s strike was the winning goal for Manchester City.
