Wolfsburg ace Kevin de Bruyne is a step closer to becoming a Manchester City player after the two clubs agreed a £54m fee, according to reports.
De Bruyne has been heavily linked with a move to the Etihad this summer, and The Guardian reports a breakthrough was reached on Wednesday with bonuses potentially taking the deal to over £58m.
It is believed De Bruyne will fly to England on Thursday to undergo a medical and is expected to be officially unveiled as a Manchester City player on Friday.
Should the deal be completed, it will be the second biggest in English football history, second only to Angel di Maria’s ill-fated £59.7m move to Manchester United in the summer of 2014.
According to the report, the Belgian international is expected to be offered a £250k-a-week deal by the cashed-up Premier League giants.
It will be De Bruyne’s second stint in England after making three Premier League appearances for Chelsea between 2012 and 2014.
