Manchester City and Chelsea yet to table any bids for Spanish winger Jose Callejon, with the Napoli man settled in Serie A.
Contrary to widespread rumours, Napoli star Jose Callejon has not be the recipient of any formal offers from English giants Manchester City and Chelsea, says the Spaniard’s agent.
The Daily Star reports that the 27-year old has been linked with a move to the Premier League mostly with Chelsea, whose boss Jose Mourinho is known to be an admirer of the forward.
Callejon can play on either wing or as a centre forward and was one Napoli’s key players this past season, netting 20 goals in all competitions for them. Manchester City were also rumoured to be interested in him, but judging by his agent’s words, nothing significant has transpired in terms of a transfer so far this summer.
“I’ve heard these rumours, but they are just that – rumours,” said Callejon’s representative Jose Manuel Quilon.
“There have been many things written and said, but I will repeat – there has been absolutely nothing.
“Napoli is a great club and gives Jose a lot of confidence.”
Callejon was sold by Real Madrid only last summer to Napoli for a fee believed to be in the region of €10 million, which turned out to be an impressive bargain for the Italian side.
Having settled in well in Serie A, it is hard to see the former Spanish youth international forcing a transfer away unless he is guaranteed regular football.
