Ivorian may depart the champions at the end of the season.
Key midfield player Yaya Toure has dropped a bomb shell on Premier League title-holders Manchester City by declaring that he will quit the club this summer unless he is given a new deal by Saturday, according to reports in the Sun.
The Ivory Coast international, who at present is away with his country on international duty preparing for a World Cup qualifier against Gambia in Abidjan on Saturday, has by all accounts been waiting for the last six months to be offered a new contract by City, but as yet none has materialised.
And the 29-year-old, who earns a reported £200,000 per week at the Ethiad stadium, claims that he is not demanding any sort of pay rise from the club’s Arab owners, only a new deal, which if he does not receive will result in Toure being able to take advantage of Fifa regulations which state that if a player has not been offered a new contract by the third year of his deal, then he is entitled to buy out the remaining year of that contract and then leave on a free.
