Otamendi has been heavily linked with a move to crosstown rivals Manchester United, however The Mirror reports City boss Manuel Pellegrini may be interested in signing the 27-year-old.
The Argentine is highly-rated by Valencia and the club have refused to allow the defender to leave the club despite Manchester United’s attempts during the winter transfer window.
With United seemingly hell-bent on signing Real Madrid star Sergio Ramos, City could make a move for the former Benfica man.
Valencia are seemingly resigned to losing Otamendi, with the report suggesting the La Liga club have identified Marseille defender Nicolas Nkoulou as a possible replacement.
Real Madrid are also believed to be keeping tabs on the player in the event Sergio Ramos moves to Old Trafford.
Otamendi’s future is seemingly dependent on Ramos’ next move unless City move in with a big-money offer.
