Manchester City have moved ahead of local rivals Manchester United and Premier League title rivals Chelsea in the bid to sign experienced Atletico Madrid central defender Miranda in the January transfer window, report the Mirror, with City having had the Brazilian scouted ahead of a possible £20 million move.

Miranda has long been linked with Chelsea and United as they look to add another option to their back lines, with the 30 year-old coming off the back of a fine season in La Liga where he formed a formidable partnership with Uruguayan international Diego Godin.
He is now believed to be available for around £20m and is keen to move to the Premier League if he can secure a four year contract, with City potentially needing defensive options to cover for injury prone captain Vincent Kompany.
