Sterling has been heavily linked to a summer exit from Anfield after refusing to sign a new and improved deal with the Reds.
The 20-year-old still has two years remaining on his current £35k-a-week contract at Liverpool, but has refused to ink a £100k-a-week deal contract extension.
Sterling’s agent Aidy Ward is adamant the England international will not sign on with the club, meaning Reds bosses may choose to cash in on the youngster before his value decreases as he edges nearer to the end of his current deal.
According to Manchester Evening News, City may look to bid for Sterling to add another ‘home-grown’ player to its squad.
The cashed-up Premier League side must sign another player who spent their formative years at an English club or risk heading into its Champions League campaign with just twenty players following the departures of Frank Lampard, James Milner and Dedryck Boyata.
Sterling certainly fits the bill, but it remains to be seen if Liverpool would be willing to sell one of its most prized assets to a Premier League rival.
Bayern Munich and Real Madrid are both also said to be interested in Sterling.
