The usurped Premier League champions are currently plotting a dramatic squad shake up over the coming transfer window, and are said to be targeting a number of young English stars to give them a renewed edge.
And despite having Gael Clichy and Aleksandar Kolorov at their disposal, Manuel Pellegrini is targeting a new left-back, with Rose thought to be their main target.
However, Rose, who has made 25 appearances for the north London club so far this term, still has four years left to run on his current deal, but City are hopeful a deal can be struck.
The 24-year-old has blossomed under the guidance of Mauricio Pochettino, was rewarded for his good form by being included in England’s squad to face Italy and Lithuania recently.
City are hoping a fee of £12million will be enough to prize him away, but they may be required to go as high as £15million as Daniel Levy is a notorious hardballer when it comes to selling players.
