Isco is expected to sign at the Etihad within the next two days.
Malaga CF’s star winger Isco is to choose Manchester City over Real Madrid and is expected to complete a £21m move in the next 48 hours, reports the Daily Mail.
Although the 21-year-old had made it clear that he would like to continue working with new City boss Manuel Pellegrini – who managed Isco for two years at Malaga – it appeared that Madrid might hijack the Chilean’s bid.
The Spain under-21 international confirmed on Monday that the two sides were in the running for his signature, but the lure of linking up with Pellegrini looks to have tipped the balance in City’s favour.
Likewise, although the Manchester side have an undeniably good squad it’s believed that Isco will have less competition at the Etihad Stadium than he would in the Spanish capital.
Currently Los Blancos have players of the calibre of Mezut Ozil, Kaka, Angel Di Maria and Luka Modric that operate in a similar position to Isco and therefore getting a regular place in the starting XI could prove to be difficult.
As a result City have edged ahead of their Madrid rivals in the chase to secure the winger and a deal is expected to be completed over the weekend.
“I prefer not to comment about my future but the matter could be closed this Sunday,” Isco was quoted in the Mail.
The Eastlands outift have already been busy in the transfer market having signed Shakhtar Donetsk’s Fernandinho for £30m and Isco’s countryman Jesus Navas from Sevilla for £15.4m.
Watch what City fans can look forward to with some of Isco’s best goals and skills.
