Manchester United were unable to continue its unbeaten start to the Premier League season following a shock 2-1 loss to Swansea City on Sunday.
Goalkeeper Sergio Romero was hammered for his part in the loss following a shaky performance.
The Argentine international was roundly criticised for his role in Swansea’s second goal, with many believing he could have done more to prevent Batefimbi Gomis’ winner.
Many fans felt this way, as Romero drew a harsh reaction from United fans on social media.
Romero was also slammed for allowing Andre Ayew’s header to hit the back of the net, with some suggesting David de Gea would have surely prevented the goal.
Despite picking up three consecutive clean sheets for Man United to start the 2015-16 season, Romero will have to prove that he can persevere through adversity for the first time in his Red Devils career.
Here are a few tweets from various fans on Twitter, including broadcaster Gary Lineker.
Think David De Gea may have saved that Ayew header.

That’s why Romero hardly played a league game for Sampdoria. Hesitant and slow #mufc
