Angel Di Maria appears to be popular everywhere except at Old Trafford. Will Louis van Gaal cut ties with the record signing after one year?
Whether or not Man United have any real interest in unloading Angel Di Maria, they appear to have a Ligue 1 club waiting in the wings to sign him.
According to the Metro, Paris St. Germain boss Laurent Blanc has openly expressed his desire to bring the £59.7 million midfield star to France. PSG had previously attempted to bring Di Maria into the fold, but Financial Fair Play rules prevented them from making the necessary offer. Now that the FFP rules have been dissolved, however, PSG are free to spend as much cash as they want.
“We have our priorities,” Blanc told a French newspaper. “Di Maria? He’s good. We have more freedom but it remains a difficult project for us because we’re not alone in wanting him.
“To strengthen such a team you must target guys who are at big clubs and who are not easy to prise away. That’s hardest for PSG.
“When you see the financial power of the English clubs, they are attacking everyone. Competition is very, very tough. Manchester United paid a fortune to sign him.”
PSG are joined by Arsenal, Man City, Barcelona and Bayern Munich in pursuit of Di Maria.
A member of the 2014 FIFA World Cup Dream Team, Di Maria looked like an early star for Man United after scoring in three of his first five matches, but he never scored again during the Premier League season and was benched by Louis van Gaal at the end of the season.
