Manchester United shot-stopper David de Gea will join Real Madrid on a free transfer next summer, according to reports.
De Gea was denied a move to the Bernabeu this summer after paperwork to finalise the £29m deal was understood to have been submitted a minute late, with neither club making an appeal to FIFA.
According to Daily Star, Real Madrid have handed the 24-year-old a staggering £10m sign-on fee to ensure the Spanish international does not make a move to a rival club.
The report suggests De Gea will now be given a second chance at Old Trafford and he is understood to be scheduled to meet with manager Louis van Gaal for “clear-the-air talks”.
Summer signing Sergio Romero has played every minute of the Red Devils’ season so far, but it remains to be seen how long he will be able to hold onto his spot in the starting XI with De Gea now seemingly available.
