Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp has insisted that neither Man United boss Louis Van Gaal nor Liverpool’s Brendan Rodgers can afford to lose on Saturday.
United suffered their first defeat of the Premier League season prior to the international break, as they surrendered a lead against Swansea to lose 2-1 to Garry Monk’s men.

Meanwhile, Liverpool suffered a heavy 3-0 defeat at the hands of West Ham at Anfield which ended their unbeaten run, and so both teams will be looking to bounce back as quickly as possible.
Redknapp believes that Saturday’s showdown is crucial for both managers, and it could be the start of their downfall if there is another poor performance.
“The pressure will ramp up on Louis van Gaal or Brendan Rodgers if they lose on Saturday night,” he told Sky Sports.
“Both Manchester United and Liverpool suffered damaging defeats before the international break and both managers will be desperate to come out on top in this fixture.”
While Redknapp slammed Van Gaal for the lack of attacking intent that his side have shown so far this season, he believes that the peril of losing this weekend is equally as bad for Rodgers who has been under pressure before the season even started.
“The worst possible game for him to lose now would be against Manchester United. It doesn’t get any bigger or more important.
“But Van Gaal won’t get an easy ride if United are on the wrong end of the result on Saturday, either.”
The former Liverpool midfielder reiterated that the pressure is on for both men, and all that is left is to find out who will be under even more on Saturday night when the final whistle blows at Old Trafford.
