Bitter foes hope to be able to tempt young star to the top flight this summer.
City-rivals Manchester United and Manchester City will go head-to-head at the end of the season to land highly-rated Borussia Dortmund midfield player Sven Bender, according to reports in the Metro.
The young Germany international has enjoyed yet another eye-catching campaign for the Bundeslga giants, especially his performances in the club’s surprise run all the way to the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League.
And, both Premier League clubs are known to be searching for a new holding midfield player to kick off next season, with the 23-year-old one of the most promising players in his position currently operating on the Continent.
However, each team also know that it will not be easy, or cheap, to lure Bender away from the Ruhr Valley this summer, with the player contracted to Dortmund until May 30 2017, meaning that it will take an enormous offer somewhere in the region of £18 million to persuade Jurgen Klopp to allow Bender to leave the club.
