Fernando Muslera has been nearly unbeatable in the Super Lig since 2011. Will he continue his dominating ways in the Premier League?
The David de Gea saga rolls along and Man United have been looking high and low for a replacement. But the Red Devils may have found their man in Turkey: Fernando Muslera.
According to Turkish-Football.com, Manchester United are set to make a €35 million bid for the Galatasaray starting stopper. The 29-year-old Muslera has been the Turkish Super Lig’s best goalkeeper for several years and set a league record with 19 clean sheets in a single year back in 2011. Muslera has started at least 30 games in each season between Lazio (his former club) and Galatasaray since 2009.
With reigning Golden Glove winner David de Gea along with Victor Valdes both demanding an exit from Old Trafford, Man United have been eager to find suitable replacements. But thus far, the Red Devils have only managed to sign aging veteran Sergio Romero. Fernando Muslera would provide plenty of confidence assuming he can continue his winning ways in the Premier League.
Muslera has been an absolute stud for Galatasaray since moving to Turkey in 2011. In four seasons he has won three Super Lig championships, two Turkiye Kupasi cups, and two TFF Super Kupa titles. He was named the Super Lig Goalkeeper of the Year in 2011-12 and has recorded a Super Lig-record 19 clean sheets.
