Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has reportedly urged Angel di Maria to remain at Old Trafford despite rumours of a move to Paris Saint-Germain.
According to Daily Star, Van Gaal is believed to have phoned the Argentine international last week in an attempt to convince him to stay after an below-par debut season with the Red Devils.
However, the reports suggests Van Gaal is ready to do business with PSG should Di Maria fail to be persuaded to stick it out in the Premier League.
PSG are aiming to take advantage of the situation, however United are not willing to be outdone and are understood to be pursuing PSG attacker Edinson Cavani as part of a deal.
Daily Star reports PSG are unwilling to allow the Uruguayan to leave the Parc de Princes this summer, further complicating a Di Maria’s proposed move.
Van Gaal is searching for a replacement for Robin van Persie, and Cavani certainly fits the bill following his stellar performances in both Ligue 1 and the Champions League with the French giants.
