With a lot of money to spend in the transfer period, Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal looks to setting some aside for Bayern Munich star defender Jérôme Boateng.
According to the Daily Star, van Gaal is eager to add a center back to the Man United defense and appear eager to bring in Boateng, who is coming off his third straight Bundesliga championship with Bayern Munich and a career-high three goals.
The 26-year-old German joined Bayern Munich for his second stint with Bundesliga in 2011 after a short season with Manchester City that included an FA Cup win over Stoke City (preceded by a win over Man United in the FA Cup Semifinals).
Boateng was a critical player in Germany’s win over Argentina in the 2014 FIFA World Cup Final, winning an astounding 83% of his duels and making a vital clearance against Lionel Messi in the 40′ mark of the 1-0 win. Several outlets called Boateng the Man of the Match for his efforts.
