Manchester United have agreed to terms with Lazio midfielder Lucas Biglia, but Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal is doing his research before making anything official.
According to The Metro, the Dutch manager has asked one of Biglia’s former managers at Anderlecht whether the Argentine is ready for a move to the Premier League giants.
The 29-year-old midfielder has spent the last two seasons with Lazio since transferring from Anderlecht.
He is expected to leave the Serie A giants despite being appointed the team captain.
Man United have already performed a dramatic overhaul on their midfield, after pulling off the signings of Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin.
They also added Memphis Depay and are reportedly on the verge of signing Barcelona winger Pedro, who completed the first part of his medical exam at Old Trafford.
It appears that van Gaal is keen on adding quality midfield depth to his squad though, as he went out of his way to do a background check on Biglia.
