With Man United expressing interest in midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger and Bayern Munich expressing interest in Angel Di Maria, the two clubs might make a blockbuster swap.
According to the Daily Star, Bayern Munich is considering an offer of Schweinster plus £25 million in straight cash for Di Maria. Last season, Man United signed Di Maria out on a transfer from Real Madrid for the 5th largest fee in world history at £59.7 million, and the largest ever by an English club (shattering the previous mark by nearly 10 million).
In 27 appearances for Man United in 2014-15, Di Maria scored three goals and won Manchester United’s Player of the Month for September. But after failing to bring the club above 4th on the Premier League table, many fans are already considering the move to have been a bit of a waste.
Schweinsteiger, on the other hand, is coming off his third straight Bungesliga Championship with Bayern Munich and his 8th with the club since 2002. In 342 appearances with the German outfit, Schweinsteiger has 45 goals and has been awarded the prestigious Silbernes Lorbeerblatt (Silver Laurel Leaf) three times for his incredible performances for Germany in the last three World Cups – including their win over Argentina in the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
