Amid reports that Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger is unsure of his future in Germany, one former Bayern player says he might reunite with Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal.
According to the Express, former Bayern Munich striker Roy Makaay said Schweinsteiger would be a good fit with van Gaal at Old Trafford and wouldn’t be surprised if the 2014 FIFA World Cup Champion teamed up with his former manager in the Premier League.
“Bastian’s an amazing player, a world champion,” Makaay said. “If you saw him at the World Cup final he was bleeding everywhere but he came back on the pitch.
“He and Van Gaal had a good relationship so it wouldn’t surprise me if he joined United.
“I hope he stays at Bayern… But if he decides to move it wouldn’t be a surprise if he changed to Man United knowing the good relationship he has with the manager (van Gaal).”
The Express reported that Schweinsteiger has been talking with Bayern Munich management about his future with the club after making a 10-year-low 28 appearances for the club this past season.
