Paris Saint-Germain are targeting a major signing from Man United, but it could result in a big scoring threat from France moving to Old Trafford.
According to the Express, the Ligue 1 club has a strong interest in Man United’s expensive flop Angel Di Maria. But in order to avoid sanctions from the UEFA, PSG is willing to make a player swap and hand over star striker Edinson Cavani in a straight swap. The Express reported that Man United manager Louis van Gaal has interest in Cavani and has a degree of buyer’s remorse over the £59.7 million signing of Di Maria last summer.
The 28-year-old Cavani has recorded double-digit league goals in each of the last seven seasons and has scored 25 or more total goals in each of the last five. Cavani led Serie A in scoring during the 2012-13 season after he set a career-high with 29 league goals. With a €64.5 million price tag, it would be a fairly even value swap for Di Maria assuming the French club can get something out of him that Louis van Gaal couldn’t last season.
