Despite having already splashed out around £75m on the likes of Matteo Darmian, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Memphis Depay, the Dutch coach is far from finished in his bid to rebuild the squad.
It is reported that a striker is top of his list after allowing Robin Van Persie to leave to join Fenerbahce, and his departure certainly leaves United short of options in attack.
“We are not finished yet, I think,” Van Gaal told MUTV.
“It is what I have said already in many press conferences. We need a balance in the selection and I think we still need to improve at least two positions and we shall do that when it is possible.”
Van Gaal added that he would only sign players that improve the level of quality in his squad, and they must be capable of immediately adjusting to the Premier League.
As a result, United fans will wait anxiously to see if any more big-name players will be arriving at Old Trafford in the coming weeks.
