Gregory van der Wiel is an old ally of Man United boss Louis van Gaal. Can LVG get more than just PSG’s money in their upcoming transfer deal?
With the deal for Di Maria imminent, Man United are poised to bring PSG defender Gregory van der Wiel back with them to Old Trafford along with plenty of cash.
According to the Metro, van der Wiel has been cleared by Paris Saint-Germain to sign with Man United once the transfer deal for Angel Di Maria has been finalized.
With just one year remaining on his deal and no plans for an extension, PSG appear content to let the seldom-used back go to Man United – especially with the club needing extra cash after the upcoming Di Maria deal.
Gregory van der Wiel has made 72 appearances for PSG since joining on a €6 million transfer back in 2012. In that span, PSG have won three straight Ligue 1 titles.
