Valencia have cleared the path for Manchester United to complete the signing of Nicolas Otamendi, according to reports.
The La Liga side take on French giants AS Monaco for a spot in this season’s UEFA Champions League, and Metro reports the Argentine was left out of Valencia’s intra-club warm-up match on Thursday night.
Otamendi was reportedly replaced by Portuguese youngster Ruben Vezo in the squad and the latest developments will only increase speculation that the 27-year-old is set for a move to the Premier League.
The former FC Porto man has been linked with both Manchester United and Manchester City, and it is reported Otamendi is in favour of a move to England.
Reports on Thursday suggested United were edging closer to a deal to snare the signature of Otamendi, however, The Mirror claims City are keen to hijack the deal.
