It looks like Man United are about to land one of the stars in this picture. Can the Red Devils swing a deal for both?
No number of “no’s” by Real Madrid has been able to stop Man United from their pursuit of defender Sergio Ramos – and the Red Devils’ gamble appears to have paid off.
According to the Metro, Man United have tabled their £42.1 million bid for the Real Madrid superstar with the La Liga giants giving more consideration to accepting the deal if it paves the way for them to acquire Man United’s star goalkeeper David de Gea.
The Metro reported that Real Madrid are prioritizing De Gea as their replacement for departed goalkeeper Iker Casillas – a situation that plays right into Man United’s hands with the club controlling the transfer fee for the disgruntled stopper.
The 10-year Real Madrid veteran Ramos was named La Liga Best Defender in three straight years (2012-2014) and is a four-time member of the UEFA Team of the Year. Ramos has 40 goals in 314 League appearances and 10 international goals – including two game-winners against France and Sweden.
