Needing a goalkeeper and a star defender, the Red Devils are about to land both in one fell swoop.
It’s no big secret that Manchester United have been in hot pursuit of top goalkeeper and defender targets this summer. Well the wait for a real star appears to finally be over.
According to the Metro, the Red Devils are closing in on a double transfer for Galatasaray clean sheet extraordinaire Fernando Muslera and Valencia defensive ace Nicolas Otamendi. With Muslera valued at £25 million by the Turkish club and Otamendi valued at £35 million by the La Liga outfit, Man United could very well plug two major holes wiht bonafide stars in one fell £60 million swoop.
Man United management view Muslera as a prime replacement for disgruntled stopper David de Gea, and see Otamendi as a substitute for Real Madrid star Sergio Ramos – who is not for sale.
Muslera has been an absolute stud for Galatasaray since moving to Turkey in 2011. In four seasons he has won three Super Lig championships, two Turkiye Kupasi cups, and two TFF Super Kupa titles. He was named the Super Lig Goalkeeper of the Year in 2011-12 and has recorded a Super Lig-record 19 clean sheets.
Otamendi was named to the 2014-15 La Liga team of the season after setting a career-high with 6 league goals in his first full season with Valencia.
