Ronaldo has been linked with a move away from Real Madrid in recent months, and Tuttomercatoweb claims that the Portugal international’s relationship with new boss Rafael Benitez is strained.
United are reportedly preparing a stunning £66.5m bid for the 30-year-old in what would without doubt be the headline transfer of the summer window.
Ronaldo has scored an incredible 225 goals in 200 La Liga appearances for Real Madrid since making the move from United in 2009, and would push Louis van Gaal’s side back into contention for the Premier League title.
Despite the reports, it is highly unlikely Real Madrid will want to let its most prized possession leave the club.
Ronaldo has been the subject of intense transfer speculation in the past, and although he no doubt has a soft spot for his old club, Real Madrid would simply not allow arguably one of the greatest players of all-time to leave the club whilst still at the peak oh his powers.
