Manchester United midfielder unhappy with 4th-place finish
Louis van Gaal’s men finished fourth in the Premier League this season and are hoping to return to the group stage. United finished seventh under David Moyes last term – his only season as manager.
Despite having won the tournament three times, United could face 2004 finalist Monaco, who knocked Arsenal out in the last 16 this season.
Man U, an unseeded team, could compete against other unseeded teams such as Lazio or Sporting Lisbon.
Other possible opponents include CSKA Moscow, Fenerbahce, Panathinaikos, Rapid Vienna, Sparta Prague and Young Boys.
Despite missing last year’s tournament, Sir Alex Ferguson led Man U to the elite competition 18 consecutive seasons in a row spanning 1996-2014.
Ten years ago was the last time they played in the qualifiers, advancing against Debrecen.
