Muller has reportedly emerged as a top transfer target for United boss Louis Van Gaal this summer, with claims that the Red Devils could be willing to part with up to €100m to secure his signature.
That figure includes the transfer fee and potential wages that the Premier League giants would invest in him, and they have seemingly been handed a boost by Lahm’s admission.
“In football everything goes very, very quickly. I think you can never give a guarantee that it will work like this or like that,” Lahm said, according to ESPN.
“As a result, I certainly can’t give any guarantee for Thomas Muller or talk about whether I can imagine [him leaving]. You can always imagine anything happening.”
Lahm added that Bayern were still a top club that can compete with the best in Europe both on and off the pitch, but it remains to be seen whether or not they will be losing another key player to United this summer after Bastian Schweinsteiger’s move.
