Manchester United have already been relatively successful this summer with multiple significant signings. However, they are still clawing and scratching at Real Madrid for them to sell defender Sergio Ramos.
It is looking even less likely that they will be able to convince Real to sell Ramos as he has been given captain duties, according to Mirror.
Ramos has already served as the vice-captain for Real Madrid, and he is now one of the most experienced players on the roster at age 29.
He is set to take over the captaincy in Real Madrid if he stays, as longtime goalkeeper Iker Casillas has departed for Porto.
In addition to being one of the world’s premier defenders, Ramos has played 10 seasons in Bernabeu while helping lead his team to three La Liga championships and a UEFA Champions League title.
Although reports have previously indicated that Ramos is eager to leave Bernabeu, more recent updates have indicated that he is happy right where he is.
Him being appointed as captain will make him an even harder sell too, even for clubs with large budgets such as Man United.
