Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo is set to be handed a massive fine after missing his side’s pre-season tour of the United States.
The Argentine defender was due to link up with his teammates in San Jose on Sunday, but The Daily Mail reports he was not allowed to step on the plane due to passport issues.
The Daily Mail claims Rojo is now set to be fined £140k – two week’s wages – after the mishap prevented him from training with United during its tour of North America.
Fellow Argentine Angel di Maria was also not on the plane, but that appears to be because the winger is edging closer to a move to Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain.
“I have heard he (Di Maria) was not on the plane,” Van Gaal is quoted as saying by The Daily Mail.
“I cannot say anything. Marcos Rojo was not on the plane, he had a passport issue but with Di Maria I don’t know why.”
Nonetheless, United have enjoyed a strong pre-season tour after winning all three of its games against Club America, San Jose Earthquakes and European champions Barcelona.
The Red Devils take on Paris Saint-Germain take on Paris Saint-Germain in Illinois on Thursday.
