Rafael appears to be disenchanted with Man United after all the moves the club just made. Will he leave Old Trafford this summer?
After a series of signings for Man United that have made multiple weaknesses into strengths, defender Rafael wants no part of the club’s new look.
According to the Metro, Rafael is seeking an exit from Old Trafford and his agent has confirmed that the 25-year-old Brazilian is in talks with other clubs about a possible transfer. Rafael’s time as a starter for Louis van Gaal’s squad appears to be short in the wake of the recent acquisition of Matteo Darmian – a right back who can fill Rafael’s spot with more effectiveness.
The Metro reported that Rafael’s agent Cassiano Pereira confirmed his client’s eagerness to leave Old Trafford before his contract expires at the end of next year.
“His contract expires in June 2016 and the coach, Van Gaal, said he isn’t counting on him, so the player wants to leave and we are talking with more than one club about this.
“Roma would be a more than welcome destination. We would be more than happy to talk to the capital club.
“Italy would be a great opportunity, particularly as he has a Portuguese passport.”
