According to Manchester Evening News, United are keen to keep hold of the Spaniard but will demand Real Madrid pay a minimum of £33m to bring the former Atletico man to the Bernabeu.
Gianluigi Buffon’s £32.6m move from Parma to Juventus in 2001 remains the world record transfer fee for a goalkeeper, and United are expecting the La Liga giants to shatter the record to have any chance of signing De Gea.
United are willing to allow De Gea to play out another season and run down the remainder of his contract and will not sell the 24-year-old for anything less than £33m.
De Gea was superb for the Red Devils last term and United officials will be doing all they can to keep hold of the Spain international.
It is believed the player rejected a £200k-a-week deal to remain at Old Trafford and an exit seems likely.
