The 22-year-old has already spent time at Sheffield Wednesday, QPR and Wigan, but he will continue his development away from Old Trafford with a stint at Deepdale and has been handed the No.9 shirt having been tasked with scoring the goals to continue the club’s ascent up the leagues.
With the likes of David Beckham and Danny Welbeck doing the same before him, the United starlet is hopeful that he can go on and break into Louis Van Gaal’s team further down the line.
“The likes of David Beckham and Danny Welbeck have been here and they all did well and benefited from the experience, so that is something I can hopefully come here and take from it,” he said, as reported by the Daily Mail.
The youngster even got some words of encouragement from former United and England defender Rio Ferdinand, who took to Twitter to insist that he would deliver goals for Simon Grayson’s team.
It promises to be a busy summer for Van Gaal who will see Robin Van Persie leave the club this week, which in turn suggests that he will be bringing in at least another striker to fill the gap left in his squad with Keane having to wait for his opportunity.
