As Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea’s future with the club remains in question, the club is moving ahead with a bid for Tottenham Hotspur star stopper Hugo Lloris.
According to the Metro, Man United boss Louis van Gaal has come to terms with the idea that he won’t have de Gea next year and has opened talks with Tottenham about matching the £17.8 million bidding price that Spurs boss Daniel Levy put on Lloris. The news will likely infuriate Spurs fans who see Lloris as one of the key cogs in their perennial Europa League contender.
A three-time Ligue 1 Goalkeeper of the Year with Ligue 1 when he was a member of Lyon, Lloris had 9 clean sheets in his first season with Tottenham in 2012-13. Though Tottenham gave up the fifth most goals in 2014-15, the 28-year-old French stopper is still considered one of the best in the world, and is the captain of the French national team.
