Benzema has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal, however the Red Devils are confident of completing the transfer of the France international, Metro reports.
It is believed a £38.3m fee would be enough for the La Liga giants to allow United to speak to the 27-year-old.
United boss Louis van Gaal is looking to bolster his attack in the off-season as the Red Devils plan an assault on the Premier League title next term.
Benzema has been a long-time Manchester United target and he is believed to be number one on the club’s transfer wishlist this summer following the departure of Radamel Falcao back to Monaco following the end of his disappointing one-year loan stint at Old Trafford.
The Frenchman joined Real Madrid from Lyon in 2009 and has scored 87 goals in 188 league appearances for the club.
