Manchester United are expected to step up their interest in Barcelona forward Pedro.
The Metro reports that United are close to reaching a deal for the forward and that they are hoping to agree to terms with him by next week.
The Red Devils are on the verge of selling midfielder Angel Di Maria to Paris Saint-Germain for £46.5m, so Pedro may very well be signed to replace the Argentine.
Man United have already upgraded their midfield depth this summer with the signings of Memphis Depay, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin.
Di Maria greatly disappointed in his sole season at Old Trafford, and Pedro is looking to receive more playing time after falling out of favour at Barcelona.
The 27-year-old forward saw his role reduced during Barcelona’s treble-winning season. Luis Suarez was brought in from Liverpool, and Pedro was unable to overcome a stacked attack.
Nonetheless, he still managed to score 11 goals in 50 appearances.
The Spanish international, who has also been linked with Chelsea and Liverpool, has a £22m release clause in his contract, but United are hoping to convince Barcelona to sell him at a reduced price.
