A race for VfL Wolfsburg winger Kevin De Bruyne has intensified with Man City poised to make a massive bid for the Bundesliga star that Man United will be hard-pressed to match.
According to the Express, Man City is lining up a £50 million bid for the 24-year-old former Chelsea flop and are fighting off rival Man United as well as Ligue 1’s Paris St. Germain for De Bruyne’s signature. With four years remaining on his contract, Wolfsburg should be in no big hurry to sell their star – but money talks and Man City intends to talk loudly this summer.
De Bruyne had a short and forgettable stint with Chelsea back from 2012 to 2014, playing in just three games for the club before being sold to Wolfsburg for £18 million in 2014.
Since joining Wolfsburg, De Bruyne has been in top form, recording 10 goals and a Bundesliga-leading 21 assists during the 2014-15 season as the club finished 2nd on the table and clinched a spot in the Champions League group stage.
