After seven years at Old Trafford, Rafael Da Silva’s time on LVG’s squad appears to be up. Will there be a fan backlash from losing the Brazilian star?
Defender Rafael Da Silva has spent his entire seven-year senior career at Old Trafford, but his time with Man United appears to be coming to an end.
According to the Metro, Silva is close to a move to Ligue 1 outfit Lyon, with a report from France quoted as calling a deal between Man United and the French outfit “very close.” The 25-year-old right-back made just 11 appearances for Louis van Gaal last season and he was not invited to the club’s pre-season in the United States.
The Metro reported that Galatasaray, Benfica, Roma and Fiorentina have also been mentioned as possible Da Silva suitors. Though no fee has been disclosed, it appears clear that Man United would rather get some money for a transfer now as opposed to waiting until his contract expires next summer.
Silva made over 100 appearances for the Red Devils since 2008, scoring five goals during his tenure at Old Trafford.
