Some fans think letting David de Gea go could be the worst sale by the club since Sir Alex Ferguson sold Ronaldo.
With the news coming across the wire that Man United have agreed to send star goalkeeper David de Gea to Real Madrid, fans are already taking to Twitter to express a variety of emotions.
Some were clearly glad that he was gone, especially after comments from his girlfriend months back where she allegedly insulted the city of Manchester:
I don’t mind De Gea leaving. He was always going to go. It was just a matter of time before the two clubs agreed on a deal

But most fans were disappointed to see the reigning PFA Goalkeeper of the Year – who recorded double-digit clean sheets last year – walk out the door.

I’m genuinely upset that De Gea & The Pea have left Utd. Been amazing for us

Some were quick to breathe a sigh of relief, however, upon learning that rising star Keylor Navas will join Man United as part of the deal:

United have done well with the De Gea deal. Getting Keylor Navas as part of the deal is a smart move from Van Gaal. pic.twitter.com/sHY7OzOZc6

But in the end, Man United fans still can’t get the dream team they want – and have instead been forced to watch that team come together in Spain:
