Manchester United have been dealt a devastating blow, with young defender Luke Shaw ruled out of the remainder of the season after suffering a double leg fracture in the Reds’ 2-1 loss to PSV Eindhoven on Tuesday night.
Shaw was carried off the field on a stretcher and looked to be in pure agony during the Champions League clash.
Shaw has proven to be one of Man United’s key defenders, and he has excelled for them throughout most of the beginning of the season alongside Chris Smalling.
Man United have made a furious effort to maintain youth in their squad, and they have done so successfully with players such as Shaw, winger Memphis Depay and striker Anthony Martial.
Here are some devastated reactions from and Man United fans and Luke Shaw himself on Twitter:
Thank you everyone for your messages , words can’t describe how gutted I am , my road to recovery starts now, I will come back stronger.

Actually gutted for Luke Shaw. Has looked very decent this season. His tweets tonight show he’s got a bit more class than most footballers.
