Don’t even tell Thomas Muller that Man United have already spent a king’s ransom this summer. Will he rejoin LVG at Old Trafford?
Not content to have the Premier League’s most expensive midfield, Man United have targeted a pair of star strikers as their next big buys.
According to the Metro, Man United are in hot pursuit of Bayern Munich striker Thomas Muller and Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani as the final pieces to Old Trafford boss Louis van Gaal’s championship puzzle. Man United are in need of a new striker ever since they sold Robin van Persie to Fenerbahce lack week – and there are some good options available.
Man United have already put forward a £57 million bid for Muller, who was given his big break by Van Gaal when he was the manager of Bayern Munich in 2009. As for Cavani, the 28-year-old Uruguayan striker has an estimated price tag of £45 million after two straight seasons for PSG with 25 goals or more.
The two strikers have scored 20 goals or more in each of the latest three seasons and each have 27 career goals in international caps. Combined, the two strikers have recorded nearly 350 total goals in 720 career appearances between the two of them.
