With goalkeeper David de Gea trying to get out of Old Trafford, Man United have Netherlands goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen on their radar as a possible replacement.
According to the Metro, Cillessen has been cleared to complete the move to Man United with Eredivisie club Ajax agreeing to sell. The Metro reports that Cillessen is one of Louis van Gaal’s top targets as a replacement for their disgruntled star goalkeeper.
Although a report two weeks ago from the Metro indicated that Ajax was unwilling to sell at Man United’s bid, One World Sports reported that Ajax is now open to selling their stopper.
Cillessen has played four seasons with Ajax and is coming off two straight seasons with 25 appearances or more. In 2014-15 he recorded 12 clean sheets for Ajax and was also the starting goalkeeper for the Netherlands national team in the 2014 FIFA World Cup – finishing 3rd in the tournament. Ajax won three straight Eredivisie championships from 2011 to 2013.
