Manchester United have been handed the all clear to complete the signing of Barcelona winger Pedro but will reportedly have to wait until after the UEFA Super Cup on August 11 to finalise the transfer.
According to The Daily Mail, Barcelona will force the Red Devils to match Pedro’s £22m release clause despite earlier reports suggesting the Premier League club would strike a £20m deal.
Barcelona boss Luis Enrique is keen to hold onto the 27-year-old, however, he is powerless to stop the player from leaving should United match the buyout clause.
The Catalan giants are likely to stall the deal, and The Daily Mail reports United will only be clear to sign the winger after Barcelona’s clash with Sevilla in the UEFA Super Cup next Tuesday.
Pedro is believed to frustrated by his lack of first-team opportunities at the Camp Nou, with the front three of Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez keeping the Spanish international out of the starting XI.
