Manchester United’s pursuit of Sergio Ramos has been aided by the news that Real Madrid are reportedly lining up Valencia’s Shkodran Mustafi as a replacement for the World Cup-winning defender.
The Red Devils are believed to have made Ramos their top centre-back target this summer as they aim to take advantage of the Spaniard’s apparent unhappiness at the Bernabeu.
There are theories that Ramos is simply using United’s interest as leverage for a better contract, but Real are seemingly worried enough over his future to have started sounding out successors.

The father and agent of Valencia’s German international, Kujtim Mustafi told Sport1: “It is true, there was contact by telephone about this matter.
“Madrid are a great club with a lot of success. And of course I would be lying if I said that I would not be proud if my son signed for this club.”
Shkodran Mustafi, a World Cup winner himself who was previously on the books at Everton, joined Valencia last summer from Sampdoria and helped them finish fourth in the La Liga table.
