Ex-England captain Rio Ferdinand has been having his say on the country’s best defensive prospects.
The Manchester United legend, who hung up his boots at the end of last season after an illustrious playing career, has highlighted John Stones, Michael Keane and Eric Dier as future Three Lions regulars.

Everton centre-back Stones, who was the subject of a failed £20m bid from Chelsea on Friday, has already been capped four times by Roy Hodgson and has been tipped for greatness.
Eighty-one times capped Ferdinand is one of his many admirers, but also sees big things ahead for Keane, who left Old Trafford for Burnley in January after failing to make the grade at United.
Keane was with the England Under-21s for Euro 2015 this summer, but Tottenham Hotspur’s Dier was not in Gareth Southgate’s squad despite an impressive debut season in the Premier League.
The 21-year-old scored in his first two outings for Spurs and made 36 appearances in total last term.
