Manchester United have held talks over the transfer of Brazilian attacker Alexandre Pato, according to reports.
Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal is keen to bolster his attack before the closure of the summer transfer window, and The Telegraph reports United have begun talks with the former AC Milan man.
The report suggests Pato could become available for £10.9m, though United won’t have it all their own way with Chelsea also involved in talks with Pato’s management.
Both Sunderland and Stoke City are believed to be interested in the Brazilian international, however, United are believed to be in pole position to snare the signature of the 25-year-old.
With Wayne Rooney well out of form, United have struggled to find the back of the net this season and Pato could prove to be a masterstroke by Van Gaal should he convince the striker to move to Old Trafford.
Pato scored 63 goals in 150 appearances for AC Milan and has notched up 30 in 74 for Sao Paulo.
